The new movie "The Fighter," tells the story of how boxer Mickey Ward worked through his tough childhood to become a world champion.

Former drug addict Richie Farrell has a small part in the movie, and he helped shape the screenplay, after his documentary about addiction caught the attention of directors, who decided to set the movie in Farrell's hometown of Lowell, Massachusetts.

We revisit our conversation with Richie Farrell, who took us on a tour of Lowell. We pass through the streets where Farrell scored his daily fix, the abandoned mill where he tried to kill himself and the detox center where he cleaned up his life.

Farrell is now a creative writing professor, and author of the book “What’s Left of Us: A Memoir of Addiction.
