Anthony Shadid, the late reporter for the New York Times, had deep ties to Boston. He used to work for the Boston Globe and had family here.

Tonight friends and colleagues gather in Cambridge to remember the man who always seemed to emerge from a war zone with an amazing story.

Like the story of Baghdad College and Jesuits from Boston. He wrote this story for Granta last fall and Here & Now's Robin Young interviewed him about it at Porter Square Books in Cambridge.
