According to the Associated Press, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney needs only 60 more delegates to reach the 1,144 needed to clinch the GOP nomination, and he is expected to win them in the Lone Star state primary today.

Romney has not been campaigning in Texas this week, today he's in Las Vegas, meeting with billionaires Sheldon Adelson and Donald Trump.

Evan Smith of the Texas Tribune says while Romney is expected to win the state primary, there's suspicion among Republicans that he's not conservative enough. And Smith ponders what the presidential race might have been like if the state primary was held when it usually is, back in March, when it looked like Rick Santorum was going to win the state.
