Louisiana Rancher Faces Desperate Situation After Hurricane Isaac

In Louisiana, some residents are still cleaning up from Hurricane Isaac. Last week, Isaac, a category 1 hurricane, pounded the Gulf Coast for nearly three days, forcing thousands of residents to evacuate their homes.

In Plaquemines Parish, flood waters are still high. While residents are trying to salvage what's left of their homes and belongings, farmers are racing against time to rescue their livestock.

Khai Nguyen, the owner of the Midway Cattle Ranch in Myrtle Grove in Plaquemines Parish told Here & Now's Sacha Pfeiffer that Hurricane Isaac killed 400 of his 500 cattle.

And he said that he’s still struggling to bring food and fresh water to his surviving animals.
