The day after the presidential election in 2012, if you were to ask who were the top Republican candidates, two names definitely on the list were New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and then-Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell.

This week, McDonnell was indicted on corruption charges, and Christie is dealing with his own scandal involving the George Washington Bridge lane closures in September.
