Now that the U.S. men's and women's curling teams have both been eliminated from medal contention in the Winter Olympics, there are apt to be some long faces in ice rinks around the country.

In the last few years, the quirky sport that brings brooms on ice has grown in popularity — and is even getting some serious play in tropical Florida.

From the Here & Now Contributors Network, Christine DiMattei of WLRN reports that from Sarasota to South Beach, curling could become the new golf.
