While the pundits' verdict is that tax reform is not going to happen this year, veteran tax expert Howard Gleckman says behind the politics, there is consensus building on the basics of tax reform:

Gleckman says the reform plan unveiled yesterday by Michigan Republican Congressman Dave Camp is interesting for two reasons.

First, it's the first time in a while that a Republican has put out a comprehensive tax reform plan that involves more than just cuts. And second, it follows the basic blueprint of all the major tax reform plans developed over the last several years, by the Bush administration, the Obama deficit reduction panel and the Bipartisan Policy Center.

Gleckman says those who think tax reform is too difficult now should remember that the last time it happened, under President Reagan, it took several years. He joins Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson.
