Russian supporters today stormed the Ukrainian naval base in the key port city of Sevastopol and raised the Russian flag. This after at least two people died in violence in the region's capitol Simferopol yesterday.

The Russian Parliament is expected to vote Friday to annex Crimea, after people there voted on Sunday to join the Russian Federation. Ukrainian officials are asking Europe for more help to fight what they call Russian aggression.

NPR's Gregory Warner is in Simferopol and joins Here & Now's Robin Young with the latest.
