When people in Turkey tried to access Twitter today, they were blocked and redirected to a statement from Turkey's telecommunications regulator that cited a court order to apply "protection measures."

The Twitter outage comes after the country's prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, vowed to wipe out Twitter after damaging allegations of corruption in his inner circle surfaced on the social media website.

The BBC's Selin Girit joins Here & Now's Sacha Pfeiffer to discuss the Twitter block in Turkey.
