Thirty years ago, Apple introduced the Macintosh computer in memorable fashion, with its "1984" ad that aired only once, during the Super Bowl.

Since then, Apple has been the king of both creativity and marketing.

There was the famous “I’m a Mac” campaign.

And of course, the black silhouettes with white earbuds on bright colored backgrounds.

But since Steve Jobs died three years ago, Apple has been in something of a rut, creatively.

Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson talks to media analyst John Carroll about the company’s struggles and what it’s doing to try to re-boot.
