As licensed marijuana retailers in Washington State open their doors, their shelves may be partly empty. Marijuana cultivation takes about four months, from the harvest to store shelves.

From the Here & Now Contributors Network, Anna King of the Northwest News Network reports that even the state's largest pot growers don't have enough product right now to meet demand.

This story is part of a joint project of Northwest News Network’s Anna King and state policy reporter Jordan Schrader of The News Tribune in Tacoma, Washington. Read The News Tribune’s companion piece by Schrader here.
