Rare And Risky U.S. Raid Frees Hostages In Yemen
ResumeU.S. Special Operations Forces conducted a pre-dawn mission on Tuesday to rescue eight hostages being held by an al-Qaida affiliate in a remote part of eastern Yemen. Yemeni officials say the freed captives were six Yemeni citizens, a Saudi and an Ethiopian.
They flew secretly to a location near the border with Saudi Arabia, then hiked some distance to a cave where they surprised the militants, killing seven militants and freeing the hostages.
