Black Friday sales may have slid overall this year, but, for the auto industry, it is a different story.

Today, Chrysler announced U.S. sales of its vehicles rose 20 percent in November, kicking off a series of better-than-expected sales reports for automakers following big Black Friday promotions and a fall in gas prices.

GMC reported a 23 percent increase, while Buick picked up 27 percent. General Motors said it was the industry's best November in more than a decade.

Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson spoke with veteran automotive industry analyst Michelle Krebs about the outlook and what it means for the U.S. economy as a whole.
