Nancy Writebol has plenty to be thankful for this new year.

Last year, she and her husband, David, were working at a health clinic in Liberia for the Christian organization, Serving In Mission.

In late July, she started to feel sick and thought it was malaria. But it wasn't. It was Ebola.

By early August, she and another American aid worker with Ebola, Dr. Kent Brantley, were flown to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta to receive treatment. Both eventually recovered.

Writebol joins Here & Now's Lisa Mullins to discuss her recovery and the need to keep an eye on Ebola, even if it isn't dominating headlines.

Guest

  • Nancy Writebol, a missionary with Serving In Mission who recovered from Ebola.

This segment aired on January 1, 2015.
