Records from the city of Philadelphia obtained by Here & Now contributor WHYY show that in the past five years, Philadelphia has paid out more than $50 million to settle lawsuits of alleged police misconduct.

And there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. As WHYY’s Bobby Allyn reports, experts say taking a hard look at the lawsuits could change the public’s relationships with law enforcement.
