The former U.S. Senator from Maine is voicing his support for the President's proposed deal with Iran.

George Mitchell represented Maine as a U.S. Senator for 15 years. He also served presidents as a special envoy to Northern Ireland and the Middle East, so he knows a thing or two about tough negotiations.

He's backing President Obama on the deal to restrict Iran's ability to produce a nuclear weapon, saying there are two ways to prevent that from happening, through negotiation or by war: "It is plain common sense to try negotiation first."
