Pope Francis spoke to a joint meeting of Congress today, the first pope ever to do that. He joins a long list of dignitaries, kings and queens, presidents and prime ministers, who have spoken to senators and representatives in the House chamber.

Julian Zelizer, professor of history and public affairs at Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School, joins Here & Now's Peter O'Dowd to provide some historical context for this unprecedented event.
