During the Reagan administration, the poorest 90 percent of American households saved 10 percent of their income. In 2006, the savings rate was closer to negative 10 percent. It's a topic that The Atlantic's Derek Thompson is writing about. Here & Now's Peter O'Dowd talks with Thompson about what's causing the decline in savings.
