The race for governor in Wisconsin is neck and neck. The incumbent with a national profile, Republican Scott Walker, called himself the "underdog" recently. He's going up against Tony Evers, the state's school superintendent. Also, Elaine May returns to Broadway in the recently opened "The Waverly Gallery," a Kenneth Lonergan portrayal of the toll Alzheimer's takes on families. May is 86 and known for her comedy, but her latest performance is emotionally crushing. And we meet a group of users on the social media platform Reddit who are taking over hate-filled discussion threads and turning them into benign or funny ones instead. That and more, in hour one of Here & Now's Nov. 1, 2018 full broadcast. You can read and hear more at hereandnow.org, follow us on Twitter and join the conversation on Facebook.

This program aired on November 1, 2018.
