The Army is charging former Green Beret Maj. Mathew Golsteyn with premeditated murder. The victim was an unarmed Afghan whom Golsteyn suspected of being a Taliban fighter and bomb-maker. President Trump has muddied the case by commenting about it on Twitter.

Here & Now's Robin Young talks with Jason Dempsey (@Jason_K_Dempsey), senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security and a retired Army officer who served in Afghanistan.

This segment aired on December 19, 2018.
