In a tweet Monday night, President Trump said he would suspend all immigration into the United States "in light of the attack from an invisible enemy." Tightening the country's borders has been central to his presidency, and this will certainly play well with his supporters as he seeks re-election during the coronavirus crisis.

Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson speaks with Julian Zelizer (@julianzelizer), professor of history and public affairs at Princeton University and a CNN political analyst, about how presidents have used crises.

This segment aired on April 21, 2020.
