Netflix is out with another celebrity documentary. This time it's "Becoming," on Michelle Obama, based on her recent autobiography by the same title.

The film shows Obama grappling with who she is now that she is no longer the first lady, revealing a more vulnerable figure than many have seen before. But Higher Ground Productions, owned by the Obamas, is behind the film, raising questions about its objectivity. The same concerns have been raised over other documentaries like Hulu's "Hillary" and ESPN's "The Last Dance."

NPR TV critic Eric Deggans (@Deggans) talks to host Tonya Mosley about whether documentaries and their subjects have gotten too close for comfort.

This segment aired on May 8, 2020.
