MBTA officials are trying to find ways to cut costs for the Green Line Extension, which is planned to go from Cambridge into Somerville and Medford.

State transportation officials want developers and local companies to help fund the project, which has seen cost estimates balloon by 50 percent, up to $3 billion for the project.

WBUR's Steve Brown reports for Morning Edition on the latest plans for the project.

This segment aired on December 15, 2015.
