In the summer of 2014, a feud within a prominent Massachusetts business family spilled out into the open when 25,000 workers for the Market Basket supermarket chain went on strike. In sympathy with the workers, customers enacted a boycott.

It all erupted after Arthur T. Demoulas — the longtime and much beloved CEO of the company — was ousted by his cousin Arthur S. Demoulas. After nearly seven weeks of protest and empty stores, "Artie T." was reinstated as the company's CEO.

The new documentary, "We The People: The Market Basket Effect," looks at how Market Basket employees, leadership and customers came together during the dispute.

The film premiered last week in New Hampshire and can now be seen in Massachusetts in select theaters, including the Somerville Theater in Davis Square and the Luna Theater in Lowell.

"We The People" producer Nick Buzzell joined Morning Edition to talk about the new film.

This segment aired on April 19, 2016.
