No More 'Dirty Water?'

When the Standells made waves with "Love that Dirty Water" in the 1960s, the Charles River deserved that "dirty" description.

But in the last 15 years, the river has made a remarkable recovery. You can even swim in it 63 percent of the time.

In fact, that's what's scheduled to happen this Sunday in the "Charles River Swim."

This morning, WBUR's David Boeri looks what it would take to make the Charles swimmable a hundred percent of the time.

This program aired on June 13, 2008. The audio for this program is not available.
