Sharp Words over Lizzie Borden

One August day in 1892, Arthur and Abby Borden were killed with an axe. Their daughter Lizzie was tried and acquitted of the crime. But still, she's gone down in popular history as the woman who "took an axe and gave her mother forty whacks."

This week, a new museum about the murders is opening in Salem. But they actually happened in Fall River, 80 miles south of "Witch City."

So, as WBUR's Andrea Shea reports, now there's a fight over who should lay claim to Lizzie Borden's infamy.

This program aired on August 11, 2008. The audio for this program is not available.
