MBTA Makes Final Recommendations: Fare Hikes, Some Service Cuts

Most of the services the MBTA had threatened to eliminate in an effort to balance its budget won't be cut under the newest proposal.

Riders will see some cuts in service and an average 23 percent increase in bus and subway fares.

State Transportation Secretary Richard Davey warns that the T's financial problems are far from over and he expects to be back next year, talking about more fare hikes and service cuts to close the budget gap.
