Play
Twelve days into what has been billed as the biggest great white shark expedition in U.S. history, the crew of OCEARCH snagged its first great white shark of the mission Thursday off the coast of Chatham.
WBUR was on board last week as the researchers and fishermen combed the waters looking for great whites to capture, research and tag.
Dr. Greg Skomal, the state's shark expert from the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, joined us live on the phone from the OCEARCH research vessel.
This program aired on August 15, 2013.
