As U.S. Population Grows, Federal Highway Head Says To Expect More Highway Traffic

The average driver in the Boston area spends 64 hours annually stuck in traffic. That's a an entire work week and a half, sitting in a car, going nowhere.

The total cost of that traffic is $3.4 billion a year.

Gregory Nadeau, head of the Federal Highway Administration, joined WBUR's All Things Considered. He told us that one of the main solutions to traffic troubles, including for the aging system in Boston, is high tech.
