President Obama will be the main attraction at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia Wednesday night.

It was 12 years ago that many Americans got their first look at Obama. It happened in Boston at the Democratic convention that nominated John Kerry for president. Back then, in 2004, Barack Obama was an Illinois state senator running for the U.S. Senate. His speech captivated the crowd and launched his national political career.
