It appears thoroughbred racing in Massachusetts may be heading into the sunset. The state's gaming commission unanimously voted that money in a special fund designed to save horse racing in the Massachusetts cannot be used to repair and operate an aging racetrack in Brockton.

WBUR senior correspondent Bruce Gellerman explains that means that barring a last-minute investor, thoroughbred racing here could soon be history.

This segment aired on August 11, 2016.
