The New England Patriots' team plane is transporting much-needed medical masks from Shenzhen, China to Massachusetts.
The plane will deliver 1.2 million N95 masks to Boston Logan International Airport Thursday night, said Gov. Charlie Baker during his daily coronavirus update.
There has been a nationwide shortage of the respirator masks, a crucial protective device for health care workers on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic.
Baker thanked Patriots owner Robert Kraft for helping get the masks to the state and said some of the masks will head to New York and Rhode Island.
“As I said before, ordering vital equipment like this is only one part of the challenge and I am incredibly grateful that the Kraft's worked this issue relentlessly alongside our Command Center staff to get these critical supplies to Massachusetts," Baker said in a statement Thursday.
