Worcester Walmart Now Has 81 Confirmed Coronavirus Cases Among Employees

A Walmart in Worcester remains closed after 81 employees tested positive for the coronavirus.

On Saturday, the store remained temporarily shuttered as city officials completed tests of the store’s nearly 400 employees. It was shut on Wednesday by the city's medical director.

A Walmart spokesperson said the store was slated for a one-day closure on Thursday as part of a company-initiated program of cleaning and restocking.

Initial plans called for reopening the store on Friday, but the company is working with Worcester officials to ensure that all the necessary steps are taken before reopening.
