1 Dead, 4 Injured At Lynn Cookout

Five people were shot — one fatally — during a cookout Saturday night in Lynn, Mass.

Police responded to a call about shots close to 10 p.m. near 134 Fayette Street, Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett and Lynn Police Chief Michael Mageary said in a statement.

A 35-year-old man from Lynn was taken to Salem Hospital, where he died of his injuries. Another man was flown to a Boston hospital with life-threatening injuries. Three other people were shot, but have less severe injuries and are expected to survive.

The Essex District Attorney’s Office, the Essex State Police Detective Unit and the Lynn Police are investigating the incident. No arrests had been made as of Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, a string of violence in Boston continued with a fatal shooting early Sunday in Dorchester. A woman was found dead, and a man was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm, police said.

The shootings came amid a spate of deadly violence. In Boston, there have been a couple dozen shootings and and stabbings over the past week.
