Need a pick me up? Here are 3 stories to make you smile this week

Editor's Note: This is a roundup of this week's moments of joy from WBUR's seasonal newsletter, The Pick Me Up. If you want a little bit of good news to help you get through the week and spread cheer this holiday season, sign up here.

From a raucous TikTok dance video, to holiday shopping with professional hockey players, to America's favorite fictional coach, here are the moments bringing us joy this week.

1. A TikTok of undergrads dancing their tails off at the Lynch Family Skatepark under I-93.

Members of Ekstone, Emerson College's K-pop dance group, made Boston Sand & Gravel's plant look extra cool as they performed to "Zoo," the raucous hit from Korean powerhouse SM Entertainment that invites you to "get wild."

The synth beats and hip-hop swagger are sure to get you on your feet after all those tryptophan-induced naps this weekend.

2. The Boston Bruins goaltenders and... squishmallows?

What's a squishmallow? Well, according to replies to the Bruins' tweet, the plush toys could work as the new leg pads for NHL backstops. After all, Bruins goalies Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark do look pretty happy with them.

And really, all the tweets documenting the hockey team's annual holiday shopping trip are bringing me joy. Between left winger Jake Debrusk scoring the cursed squeaky shopping cart and center David Krejčí browsing the "brain booster" baby toys, I'm reminded how shopping at Target might be the thread tying us all together.

3. Ted Lasso's billboard-sized love for Team USA at the World Cup.

The award-winning Apple TV+ show partnered with the U.S. Soccer Federation to bring giant, personalized words of encouragement to the entire roster of the U.S. men's national soccer team. That includes former New England Revolution goalkeeper and "vibes guy" Matt Turner, who saw his love letter emblazoned on his hometown high school. (You can read all the letters here, courtesy of Coach Beard.)

On the eve of tough matchup against the Netherlands, let your hearts be light with a dose of wholesome from America's favorite (fictional) coach.
