The Stage at Suffolk Downs announces line-up for June debut

The Bowery Presents has announced the artists on the bill for its big, new outdoor venue at Suffolk Downs that opens in June. The concerts are part of live entertainment company AEG's regional, multi-city series dubbed “Re:SET,” and include headliners Steve Lacy, LCD Soundsystem and boygenius.

The roving, mini-festival “Re: SET” is being described as "a fresh take" on the summer outdoor concert experience. During the month of June, the acts will travel to different regions each weekend, then play three shows at venues in three cities. For instance, on the weekend of June 16, 17 and 18, the musicians will perform at the old racetrack in Revere, Forest Hills Stadium in New York City and the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland.

The headliners are also doubling as curators and will share their days with fellow artists they've selected. Steve Lacy will be joined by James Blake, Toro y Moi and Fousheé. LCD Soundsystem is touring with Jamie xx of the English electronic group The xx, UK hard rockers IDLES, Big Freedia and L'Rain, an experimental multi-instrumentalist. Massachusetts' own Clairo joins boygenius (the acclaimed project created by Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus) along with Dijon and Bartees Strange.

According to the announcement, this concept “provides artists a respite from the cookie-cutter summer itinerary of sheds and amphitheaters, while fans get a leisurely day that features full sets from every artist, on one stage with no conflicts.”

In all, the artists will perform in a dozen cities including Atlanta, Chicago, Columbus and San Diego.

The rest of The Stage at Suffolks Downs' summer calendar has yet to be released.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the location of the Merriweather Post Pavilion. We regret the error.
