Boston Hilton hotel workers reach contract deal, ending strike
Hospitality workers at two Boston hotels have suspended their strikes after more than three weeks, with their labor union announcing a tentative contract deal Tuesday night between members and Hilton Hotels & Resorts.
Roughly 600 workers at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport and Hilton Boston Park Plaza are slated to return to their jobs early Friday morning, pending a contract ratification vote Thursday afternoon, UNITE HERE Local 26 announced. Workers, whose contracts expired at the end of August, launched their open-ended strike Oct. 7 as part of their push to secure higher wages and more manageable workloads.
The agreement will also cover workers at two other Hilton properties, the DoubleTree Hilton Boston-Cambridge and the Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites Boston Seaport, the union said.
The union says the Hilton deal "achieves the same standard of wages & benefits set by Omni Hotels & Resorts." Those hotel workers ratified a new contract on Oct. 20.
More hotel strikes in Boston are possible, including at properties operated by Marriott and Aimbridge Hospitality, the union said. About 3,000 workers across 30 hotels have yet to secure new contracts, a union spokesperson said.
