Harris wins Massachusetts' 11 electoral votes
Vice President Kamala Harris glided to victory in Massachusetts early Tuesday night, securing its 11 Electoral College votes — the highest yield of any New England state.
To little surprise, the Associated Press called the race for Harris shortly after polls closed in the deep blue state.
Four years ago, President Biden bested then-President Trump in Massachusetts, winning nearly two-thirds of votes across the state. A Republican president hasn't taken the commonwealth since Ronald Reagan won in 1984.
In his two previous bids for the presidency, Trump received more than a million votes in Massachusetts. It's likely the final vote tallies will reveal he's cracked that total for a third time.
Compared to the state’s northern and more politically divided neighbors, the candidates and their dignitaries spent little effort campaigning in Massachusetts.
Instead, many local Harris supporters, including several Democratic politicos, took off to swing states like Michigan, North Carolina and Pennsylvania to get out the vote in the deadlocked presidential race ahead of Election Day.
