Mass. auditor: disorganized cannabis regulation hurts small businesses, invites corruption
Massachusetts Auditor Diana DiZoglio joins WBUR's Morning Edition to discuss her office's recent audit of the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission. The commission has weathered disorder and staff turnover in recent years, leading to conditions that DiZoglio says invite potential favoritism and corruption in the regulation of the state's cannabis industry.
Officials with the Cannabis Control Commission said they have made a number of changes since the period of the audit, which ended in 2024. That includes hiring key leaders, including a new executive director and general counsel. The commission also said it improved the process to collect fees from Massachusetts licensees.
