Music from the Show

This article is more than 8 years old.
Four Scores and Seven Beers Ago by Doug Supernaw and Herschel Walker (from NFL Country, Castle, 1996)

You know, there's a lot of sports-specific music out there, but it's amazing that there are practically no Super Bowl songs. I was suckered many years ago into buying Super Jazz by Al Hirt and Pete Fountain, because it contains a song titled "Super Bowl Blues". But it's an instrumental. It might just as well have been titled "World Series Blues", "My Car is Falling Apart and I Can't Afford a New One Blues" or even "The Crab Nebula Has An Apparent Magnitude of 8.4 Blues". It just doesn't matter. The blues is the blues. So will someone please consider writing some bona fide Super Bowl music? Harry Connick, Jr? Randy Newman? The Polyphonic Spree? The Mountain Goats? Anyone?

Edelweiss by Whoopee John (from The Best of Polka, Polka City Records, 1999)

Maybe Whoopee John, if that really is his name, can step in to fill the Super Bowl void. Ooops…never mind. He died 5 years before the first Super Bowl.

Godan-Kinuta by Zumi-Kai Original Instrumental Group (from Koto Music of Japan, LaserLight, 1993)

I guess this koto music is about the closest we can come to official Super Bowl music. Oh, the irony.

Fight for California by The USC Trojan Marching Band (from Fight Songs, Delta, 1989)

They say that writers should write about what they know. And here we have a marching band that plays what it knows.

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! By The Glenn Miller Orchestra (from Swingin' Santa, LaserLight, 2005)

I have written a rebuttal song titled "Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop! Make It Stop!"
