It's been a week of shifting currents, at home and abroad. Condoleeza Rice announced the United States will negotiate with Iran if Tehran shuts down its nuclear program, and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with allies in Vienna. But is that a real path to peace or road-paving for war?

Americans took on board the civilian deaths in Haditha, as more killings are alleged and Iraq's prime minister himself accuses US troops of killing Iraqi civilians every day.

The Roberts-Alito Supreme Court gave a cold shoulder to whistleblowers. There was no relief on immigration legislation. Paulson's in at Treasury. There's a lot to look at.
