Lisa Birnbach is to preps what Jane Goodall is to apes. Thirty years ago, then in her early 20s, Birnbach wrote "The Official Preppy Handbook," which became a hit best seller. Birnbach figured she was done with that topic; change was so antithetical to the khaki-clad clan, Birnbach thought she'd never have to write another book.

But that was all before the age of fleece, Facebook, and Gossip Girl. This year, Birnbach is back to chronicle to evolving life of the cocktail set in her new book: "True Prep: It's a Whole New Old World."
