In this final week before the election, Radio Boston is interviewing the candidates for governor. On Tuesday, it was Democrat Deval Patrick. On Wednesday, we speak with Green Rainbow candidate Jill Stein.

Stein, a Lexington physician, supports ditching Massachusetts health reform in favor of a nationwide, single-payer system. She opposes any casino gambling in the state. She supports Cape Wind in theory, but thinks the contract needs to be re-bid. She wants to restore the cuts to higher education, human services and local aid that the Patrick administration has made amid the economic crisis — and, to help pay for it, she proposes a progressive income tax in Massachusetts instead of the flat 5.3 percent residents now pay across all incomes.

Popular though her positions may be in Massachusetts, Stein has consistently polled in the low single digits.
