"It's a great day," declared Governor Deval Patrick Tuesday as he signed into law the municipal health care reform legislation. The labor issue had been the most contentious issue in a long budget process that finally drew to a conclusion this week.

On Monday, Patrick signed a $30.6 billion budget, which cuts spending by $750 million, which is the biggest year-on-year reduction in 20 years.

Craig Sandler has seen more than his fair share of budgets. And Sandler says with this budget, the governor has reason to be so happy. In fact, he's never seen one work out so well.
