The Parkington Sisters grew up in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, in a household of nine musicians: two parents and seven children playing piano, guitar, violins, viola, cello, and even a little accordion.

Unlike the Von Trapp family, however, The Parkington Sisters didn't grow up as a "family band". That part came later.

After college and years of independent training, four of the sisters, Rose, Nora, Sarah and Ariel came together in 2006 to officially form the group.

The Parkington Sisters are now gaining some momentum. They played Bonnaroo this summer and are touring extensively with The Dropkick Murphys.

The sisters are opening for Mavis Staples at Symphony Hall as part of this year's First Night celebration, and they'll be working on their sophomore full-length album this winter.
