Though Tropical Storm Issac is set to strike Haiti on Friday night, Boston-area residents are paying attention as well. The Hub is home to the nation's third-largest Haitian community, and to Boston-based Partners In Health, the nonprofit medical and public health group that's been active in Haiti for years.

Aid workers there are concerned about the risk of mudslides and cholera outbreaks due to storm-related flooding. Over 3o0,000 people are still living in tent cities and temporary housing after the January 2010 earthquake that devastated the island nation.

  • Cate Oswald, Haiti program director for Partners in Health
