On Wednesday, the Gloucester Community Arts Charter School abruptly closed. The mid-day dismissal marked the end of a long struggle with fiscal instability, low enrollment, staff turnover, academic performance issues, and censure from the state department of elementary and secondary education.

One of the former teachers at GCACS joins us to tell us more about what it was like to be a part of the struggling school and how it changed his view of education — and of himself.

Guest:

  • Christopher Ahearn, former social studies and math teacher at the Gloucester Community Arts Charter School

This segment aired on January 11, 2013.
