Danvers High School Student Accused Of Killing Math Teacher

Fourteen-year-old Philip D. Chism is being held without bail in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Colleen Ritzer. Danvers Police said Chism attacked Ritzer inside the school and disposed of her body in a wooded area nearby.

Ritzer's family just issued a statement to the Lawrence Eagle Tribune:

At this time we are mourning the tragic death of our amazing daughter and sister. Everyone that knew and loved Colleen knew of her passion, her teaching and how she mentored each and every one of her students. We would like to ask everyone to respect our privacy at this most difficult time. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

A vigil is planned outside Danvers High School at 8 p.m. Wednesday night.
