There will be three new justices on the state's highest court. The Governor's Council has unanimously approved Superior Court Judge Kimberly Budd to the Supreme Judicial Court.

Last month, the council also confirmed Judges Frank Gaziano and David Lowy to the bench.

The three appointees, and two expected retirements next year, mean that Baker will be able to make a big mark on the SJC, nominating five of the seven-member panel.

Guest

Nancy Gertner, former Massachusetts federal judge, senior lecturer on law at Harvard Law School and WBUR legal analyst.

This segment aired on August 10, 2016.
