It's commencement season in Massachusetts and through the rain and the cold, graduates have been marching in their festive regalia and sitting for speeches that are supposed to help them navigate the next stage of life.

This year, leaders like Gov. Charlie Baker, author Tara Westover and rapper Missy Elliott have delivered wisdom to metro-area colleges.

If there was a common message, it was this: you will have struggles. In fact, you'll have a lot of them, but the not-so-glamorous moments will be the most important.

We round up some of the best advice.
